AMAZON FBA BARCODE REQUIREMENTS CHANGES
Effective March 31, 2026, Amazon is updating its FBA barcode requirements. These changes will directly impact reseller accounts.
Here’s what changes:
- Resellers will be required to use Amazon barcodes for all FBA products, even if a product already has a manufacturer's barcode.
- Brand owners enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry can continue using manufacturer barcodes. Brand-registered ASINs are exempt from this change.
- Inventory already in fulfillment centers or in transit will not be affected.
What this means in practice:
Reseller accounts must transition affected products to Amazon barcode settings.
This requires creating new SKUs configured with Amazon barcodes.
The switch can be done:
-> Individually via Seller Central (Inventory → Manage All Inventory)
-> In bulk using the file upload tool (Professional selling plan)
Important operational note:
When you create a new SKU with Amazon barcode settings, it will require separate management for:
-> Inventory recommendations
-> Pricing
-> Advertising campaigns
-> Deals and coupons
-> Subscribe & Save
This is not a cosmetic update.
It affects catalog structure, retail readiness timelines, and campaign continuity.
If you manage reseller portfolios, start auditing affected ASINs now and build a transition plan ahead of March 31.
Are your reseller accounts prepared for this shift?
